Night Operations Manager

Overall Job Purpose


To manage the night-time trans-shipment at our Watford Gap Hub in the most cost effective and productive manner, considering all aspects of Health and Safety and effectively manage costs associated with the increase and decrease in volumes.


Key responsibilities:

  • To monitor staff attendance, time keeping and general performance

  • Attend operations meetings as required

  • Monitor the night operations and report any issues to the Operations Director

  • To maintain current operational relationships with members of the network ensuring that problems are resolved

  • Provide leadership for the night operations team ensuring all team members know the objectives and purpose for the night operation

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements by drivers and visitors

  • Analyse and monitor scanning performance, identifying any problems and taking appropriate action

  • Ensure current security plans are followed, monitored, and implement new practices

  • Ensure company property and members property are kept safe

  • Make an effective contribution to the business and the provision of customer service

  • Maintain Health and Safety in Night Operations ensuring all team members comply with regulations

  • Operate equipment to perform work requirements as and when required

General responsibilities:

  • Ensure the highest level of quality of service is always provided to both internal and external stakeholders

  • Working towards and supporting company goals, values, and objectives

  • To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions including use of correct PPE equipment

  • Follow all safe systems of work and local safety procedures as relevant to job role, and report non-compliance of others via the near miss reporting process

  • To control vehicle and pallet movements in line with set matrix arrival and departures

  • To maximise human and mechanical resource

  • To ensure correct procedures are followed to link depots and hub, communicating issues relating to operations

  • To identify and develop personnel who demonstrate aptitude to improve

  • To follow all ISO and Health and Safety Procedures

  • To complete all necessary administration duties
