Fortec's members benefit from greater connectivity and improved visibility

The Fortec Distribution Network is helping its members to work more efficiently and effectively together by offering them an improved range of services that can be accessed while on the move and at the same time provide total transparency across the network.

The network has invested in upgrading its IT at a time when business is booming in the pallet sector, in order to maintain its competitive edge as well as attract new members.

A range of industry sector leading IT developments have now been made available to members of the Network after extensive trials and consultative member working groups including MapIT, Report IT and TrackIT.

ReportIT is an instant message board embedded into Fortrack, Fortec’s bespoke TMS system that allows members to communicate with each other, and for Fortec to contact members, leaving a fully auditable trail and alerting users to new incoming messages.

The TrackIT portal allows members to track their vehicles whenever there is a live and operating Fortec Connect app running in the cab, enabling them to see where all their vehicles are at any one time.

These three new developments come on top of the robust signature capture facility now offered by Fortec Connect that enables members to see quickly when consignments have been delivered and accepted.

Chris Dennigan Fortec’s Business Improvements and Performance Manager said: “Visibility in any transport and distribution network is key and our new offering does just that. I remain convinced that we have a responsibility to make it as simple as possible for our members to exceed their customers’ expectations and we are working hard to deliver on that by providing industry leading technology.

“MapIT, TrackIT and ReportIT allow our members to offer a more seamless service to their customers by enabling them to plan routes more efficiently and to keep in touch with developments in real time.

“We are committed to continually improving the network for the benefit of members so that they can make the most of the opportunities provided by the upturn in the market. We don’t want to stand still - further developments are in the pipeline and are already being tested.”

Business has flourished for Fortec in 2015 and the company has this year expanded its operations by opening a new regional hub at Warrington, Cheshire, to help serve members and their customers in the North.
