Gateshead-based OSE European has joined the Fortec Distribution Network.
The company, centrally based in South Shore Road, will cover the majority of the NE postcodes for Fortec.
Employing a 40-strong workforce and operating a fleet of 25 vehicles, from small vans to double deck trailers. OSE serves some 250 customers in the UK and Europe.
The company, which has two bases, one in Gateshead as well as one in Belgium, handles goods from a wide range of sectors including pharmaceutical, engineering, automotive and food.
Dominic Wintrip, General Manager, said although it specialises in dedicated express deliveries, hazardous and temperature-controlled goods, OSE moves almost anything, including large engineering equipment, for their customers.
The move into Fortec marks the first time OSE has been a member of a pallet network.
Dominic said being a member will enable the company to offer a full range of services to customers both in the UK and Europe.
Dominic said: “Not only will joining Fortec allow us to better meet the growing needs of our customers, as well as provide an optimum service for other Fortec members, it will allow us to positively alter our business model.
“As we grow, we will continue to increase our larger vehicle fleet and expand our customer base using services we did not previously offer.”
Dominic said the company had made plans to over-ride any short-term challenges brought on by Brexit. He said: “We have sufficient plans in place to ensure that service for customers is not adversely affected, including multiple accessible ferry routes and our own warehousing facility in Europe.”
OSE is one of more than 80 members of the UK-wide network.
