Pall-Ex Group Annual Golf Day Returns After 2-Year Hiatus

After a long two-year absence, we were so pleased to celebrate the Pall-Ex Group Annual Golf Day at the Forest of Arden Championship Golf Course. This unique golf course, set in Warwickshire’s parklands and ancient woodlands played host to a wonderful day of golf for employees, members, and customers with all proceeds going to support the Ukraine humanitarian appeal.

Pall-Ex Golf Day Tees Off

With a few days of rain leading up to the event, we were pleased to see the sun come out for a great day of golf on the 21st of June. This event, sponsored by Gallagher, kicked off with an incredible trick shot show by Trick Shot artist Geoff Swain who wowed 72 guests in attendance with an array of golfing stunts. Golfers also received a gift bag on arrival to thank them for joining us on the return of this firm favourite.

Once Geoff’s antics had wowed everyone, players teed off, shotgun style. 18 teams of four played Texas Scramble with prizes waiting for teams and individuals. Some top honours included team winners, individual winners, longest drive, and nearest to the pin. But that wasn’t all. Every team also played with a unique competition running throughout the day; The Charity Red Ball Competition.

Charity Red Ball Competition

This unique competition was played in teams with each team given a bright red ball to play with. This ball was rotated between team members after each hole. Whichever player used the red ball recorded their score on a separate scorecard to create a team ‘red ball’ score. The winning team was the team with the best red ball score after 18 holes. This fun twist meant teamwork was integral to playing to each other's strengths to get the best score possible.

Close But No BMW

Another exciting event on the day was the hole-in-one challenge on the 18th. Sponsored by Stratstone Derby, the lucky winner needed to hit a hole-in-one on the 18th hole to walk (or drive) away with a brand new BMW Z4. Unfortunately, the prize went unclaimed but some people went agonisingly close, especially Carl Burrows who won the nearest the pin challenge on the 18th.

Dinner, Drinks, and Prizes

After an enjoyable day of golf, the day concluded with a lovely evening meal courtesy of the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club. This was followed by an award ceremony with prizes for teams and individuals. The winners included;

Winning Team: KB Transport

Individual Winner: Stephen Stafford

Longest Drive: Ben Burton

Nearest the Pin: Neil Giddings (hole 5), Peter Luetchford (hole 8), Barry Byers (hole 15) and Carl Burrows (hole 18)

Charity Red Ball Competition (team): Paul Shrives, Darren Sandford-Wilson and Roy Butler with the challenge raising £1,070 for the #PLXUkraine appeal.

All-in-all it was a great day of golf and we were so pleased to enjoy some time with colleagues and clients and raise money for a good cause. Kevin Buchanan, Pall-Ex Group CEO, also wanted to thank everyone for joining us for this special occasion saying;

“It was fantastic to see so many members and customers from both networks together on the golf course last week. The event was a huge success that raised a lot of money for an excellent cause."
