Pallet scanning app officially launched during National Lorry Week

To tie in with National Lorry Week Fortec Distribution Network has officially launched its new pallet scanning app.

Fortec’s Track-IT app is designed to give its members the facility to scan pallets at every stage of the delivery journey and provide customers with more visibility of their goods as they move through the network.

Adrian Bradley, Managing Director of Fortec, said: “The haulage industry is the life-blood of the country, and we want to make sure that everyone in the country knows it too, so it’s fitting that our Track-IT system is being officially launched during RHA’s National Lorry Week.

“This system is just one of the many IT projects scheduled for the coming months and is a key development across our track and trace facility. The same technology will be replicated within our hub shortly.”

This is Road Haulage Association’s (RHA) fifth National Lorry Week, running from 16th to 22nd September.

Adrian added: “We have been an RHA member for many years, so are pleased to join forces with RHA to celebrate the haulage industry and to promote driving and logistics as a career option.”

Fortec members have their say:

Yinka Lawal, Fortec Co-ordinator, Karl King Transport: “Track-IT gives us a peace of mind and saves us time. It’s simple to use and you can upload a real-time image of the pallet as soon as you scan it into our depot.”

Steve Todd, Pallet Network Manager, Eurovision Logistics Limited: “It’s really easy to use and saves time. A simple scan of a bar code allows us to debrief a consignment correctly and the scanning reduces the potential of errors from a mistyped letter or number of a consignment.”

Steve Todd, Pallet Network Manager, Eurovision Logistics Limited: “Just scan the pallet, apply any discrepancies (if required) and confirm its arrival at the depot all in one operation. This takes away the responsibility of having to be out in the yard myself, therefore, giving me back around 45 minutes per day.”

Nick Vallance, MD, W L Vallance Ltd: ‘’Fortec’s new system has been an excellent development and a positive enhancement to our multi-drop pallet service in the south west. It has sped up processing in the mornings and offered instant freight traceability for everyone concerned.”

Dave Webster, MD at Brocklehurst Transport: “Despatching vehicles is easier at the busiest times. Training is excellent, and the system cuts our loading and scanning time by at least 50%.”

National Lorry Week is designed to promote and celebrate the excellent work of logistics firms in the UK and to highlight the benefits of a career in haulage.
