A Northamptonshire based transport team are celebrating after being shortlisted for one of the UK’s most prestigious awards.

Fortec Distribution Network, a logistics and transport company based in Watford Gap, has been unveiled as a ‘Team of the Year’ finalist at this year’s high-profile Motor Transport Awards 2020 – with the winner set to be announced at an awards ceremony later this year.

These awards, judged by a team of more than 50 senior figures working in the transport industry, are now in their 34th year and are widely recognised as a benchmark for excellence in the sector.

Adrian Bradley, Managing Director of Fortec, said: “To be recognised by our peers as having one of the very best teams in the country is an outstanding achievement. Now we just have to win the award!”

Fortec’s Operations Team, a team of 57 working from the company’s Northamptonshire ‘Hub’, is headed up by Stuart White, General Manager, Operations.

Stuart said: “To be shortlisted for this award is hugely motivating for us all. Our Operations Team is outstanding and committed to our role within the network. The team support each other, morale is high and the team is operationally excellent.

“We are so pleased the Motor Transport award judges were impressed by our Project Transform, which we launched at the end of 2018 to improve employee engagement, our outputs and our working environment.

“This project and our team exceeded all expectations, something that was particularly rewarding after a challenging year. Heavy snow in February had caused chaos across the country and at the same time our £3million Hub investment was underway, which meant that, while it was incredibly exciting, there were also many areas on site that were out of action.”

In less than a year the company’s Operations team turned all this around and are now one of just five UK companies in the running for ‘Team of the Year’.

Fortec Distribution Network won Team of the Year in 2016 and Apprentice of the Year in 2017 at the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards. The company was a finalist in the 2017 Storage Handling and Distribution Logistics Awards and shortlisted in two categories at The Logistics Awards 2019.

Fortec was a sponsor for the 2014 Motor Transport Awards.
